Deal – Children’s Nursery Garden

The requirement here was to provide an outdoor school area that looked attractive and provided a safe area in which the children could play.

The area had to be designed to provide an environment that encouraged learning and creative play. To achieve this we came up with a number of ideas:-

• A willow dome that provided shade from the summer sun.
• A maize made from ‘Rosemary’, that suited the chalk soil and is a robust herb.
• A water cascade that consisted of a hand pump, with which the children could transfer water to higher level timber trough system. The water was then allowed to cascade down to a sump in the bog garden.
• A bog garden created with a pond liner, gravel and a buried water supply hose. The bog plants are interesting in terms of their texture, colour and variety and of course needing some attention from the children.

The garden was designed, installed and the children are now happily playing and learning in it.
